Coaxial Cable
Information on Coaxial Cable
Last Updated: 12.13.07
Is one of the most common cables used for transmission of Video or Television signals. It is the cable you are probably familiar with that connects to the RF “nipple” on the back of your TV providing your cable TV or Satellite Signal. Coaxial cable is typically made up of a core single wire surrounded by insulation and a secondary shield of grounded braided wire. It is this braided insulation that provides shielding from RF interference. Coaxial cable is often also used in computer networking applications such as Ethernet, because of its resistance to interference.
